Victor Padilla named co-CEO of HIC Land

HIC Land, a South Carolina-based real estate investment and asset management company focused on land banking and land development, has appointed Victor Padilla as co-CEO alongside founder Stefan Hoyer.

The move formalizes a leadership transition aimed at positioning the company for its next phase, marked by a growing focus on master-planned communities, the company said in an announcement.

Padilla, Hoyer’s first hire at HIC Land, has been with the company for more than a decade. Most recently serving as director of operations, his responsibilities have expanded over the years to include acquisitions, dispositions, financing, personnel management, strategic growth initiatives and much of the company’s day-to-day business. HIC Land said his progression at the firm has given him a comprehensive understanding of its operations, investment strategy, partners and markets.

“Victor is an integral part of HIC Land and has earned the trust of our team, partners and the homebuilders we work with,” Hoyer said in a press release. “Over the past decade, he has developed a deep understanding of our business and the people we serve, making this a natural evolution for both Victor and the company. Victor has played an increasingly important role in shaping HIC’s strategy and growth, and I am excited to work alongside him as we enter the next chapter of the company.”

Hoyer, who founded HIC Land in 2008, will remain involved as co-CEO, continuing to work closely with homebuilders, landowners, investors and other partners. The expanded leadership structure is intended to give clients and partners greater access to senior leadership and support continued growth, faster decision-making and a higher level of service.

“Stepping into this role means taking greater responsibility for HIC Land’s future, our team and creating opportunities for the people within our company,” Padilla said. “I am incredibly proud of what we have built over the past decade. Stefan has built an exceptional company, and I look forward to working closely with him and our team to build on that foundation, strengthen our relationships and pursue new opportunities. We have a tremendous team, an exciting pipeline and a long-term vision for where HIC can go.”

HIC Land continues to expand its activity across the Southeast, now operating in eight states with more than $300 million in total investments and more than 48,000 lots currently under development, owned or under control. Its core business centers on land development, acquiring entitled and permitted land, installing infrastructure and delivering finished lots to homebuilders.

The company also owns or controls land representing more than 7,500 multifamily density units and more than 700 acres of commercial property, which it plans to develop as part of its long-term strategy.

Under its evolving strategy, HIC Land has broadened its focus beyond smaller residential subdivisions to pursue larger-scale, master-planned communities. These projects are designed with an amenity-focused approach that integrates residential neighborhoods with retail, commercial uses, recreational amenities and municipal infrastructure to create cohesive, long-term community environments.

With its expanded leadership structure, the company plans to continue growing its presence across the Southeast.
