The Agency hires Jim Lonergan to lead Midwest expansion

Global real estate brokerage The Agency has hired longtime franchise growth executive Jim Lonergan as vice president, overseeing Midwest and South Central U.S. sales as well as Canada, the company announced on Friday.

Lonergan is a veteran of Anywhere Real Estate, where he held senior strategic growth and franchise sales leadership roles. Over his tenure, he focused on identifying growth opportunities, building relationships with brokerage leaders and driving franchise expansion across major U.S. markets, according to the announcement.

In his new role at The Agency, Lonergan will be responsible for driving strategic sales and expansion across the Midwest and South Central regions. His mandate includes sourcing and developing relationships with independent brokerages and real estate professionals that could convert to The Agency’s franchise model, while supporting the firm’s broader U.S. growth strategy, according to the announcement.

“After many years in this industry, I’ve seen firsthand how the real estate business has evolved, and I believe the future is boutique, providing clients and agents with a more personal, high-touch experience backed by a powerful global brand,” Lonergan said in a statement. “The Agency has built something truly differentiated by combining that entrepreneurial, relationship-driven approach with an exceptional platform and global reach. I’m excited to join the team and help bring that model to very strategic markets throughout the Midwest and South Central regions.”

Lonergan’s hire comes as The Agency continues an aggressive global expansion. The brokerage has grown to more than 180 offices worldwide, largely through an independently owned and operated franchise network. The firm is targeting key U.S. and international markets where boutique, high-touch brands are competing with scaled national players and virtual models.

“Jim has spent his career building trusted relationships across the real estate industry and has an exceptional understanding of what brokerage leaders need to grow and compete,” said James Ramsay, executive vice president of franchise sales and operations at The Agency. “His experience, reputation and deep knowledge of these markets make him an incredible addition to our team as we continue to thoughtfully expand The Agency’s presence throughout the U.S.”
