Boston Children’s Hospital is expanding to West Palm Beach, inking a deal to open a clinic in Related Ross’ Esperanté Corporate Center, The Real Deal has learned.
The expansion marks the renowned hospital’s first venture outside its namesake city. The location is planned to open next year as a specialty pediatric clinic, in the 17-story office tower owned by billionaire developer Steve Ross and his company Related Ross.
“Boston Children’s choosing West Palm Beach for its first expansion beyond Boston is a testament to how much this market has grown and the young families that call our city home today,” Related Ross executive vice president Jordan Rathlev said in an email.
The Esperanté Corporate Center is among the city’s signature office towers, built in 1989 and measuring 256,000 square feet. Ross bought a stake in the building in 2021 and secured a $145 million refinancing on it this year. It is unclear how much space the hospital will occupy.
The building recently underwent an $8 million renovation, according to the Related Ross website. Other tenants in the office tower include Bank of America, Blue Sea Capital and investment banker Piper Sandler.
Boston Children’s is considered one of the best pediatric hospitals in the world and is the main pediatric training facility connected to Harvard Medical School.
The pediatric hospital joins a larger healthcare network growing in West Palm Beach.
Cleveland Clinic is set to anchor Related Ross’ under-construction 15 CityPlace office tower, expected to be completed next year. That location will be nearly quadruple the size of its current center, located at 525 Okeechobee Boulevard, according to a news release.
Cleveland Clinic is also planning a West Palm hospital, planned to open at the end of 2029. It had raised more than $180 million for that project as of February.
Meanwhile, Good Samaritan Medical Center is planning a major renovation with help from Rob Frisbie Jr. and Cody Crowell’s Easton Street Capital. The medical campus is set to include a new hospital and medical office tower, rental housing, two luxury condominiums, a hotel and a mixed-use complex.
