New Report Finds Crypto Jobs Are Contributing More Than $55 Billion to the U.S. Economy in 2026, According to the National Cryptocurrency Association

National Cryptocurrency Association reveals crypto is a booming American industry, creating high-paying jobs and strengthening local economies across the country

Today, the National Cryptocurrency Association (NCA), a non-profit organization dedicated to helping Americans understand and use crypto with confidence, released a new report with the Pragmatic Policy Group (PPG) examining crypto’s contribution to the economy. The Crypto at Work Report shows that crypto is reshaping the American labor market, supporting 34,000 direct jobs and, with a strong multiplier effect, 232,000 industry-adjacent jobs. As a meaningful driver of U.S. employment and income, crypto is on track to contribute more than $55 billion to the economy in 2026.

The report highlights how crypto is impacting multiple industries and regions:

  • The $55 billion contribution to the economy isn’t just in financial services, but also expands into other sectors like professional services ($3.6B) and housing ($3B)
  • Crypto and industry adjacent jobs are found across the country from major hubs like California (57,600+ jobs) and North Carolina (9,500+ jobs) to more than 17,000+ jobs in Heartland states
  • Jobs associated with crypto industry are high-paying, with average wages of around $133,000, more than double the national median wage

“What we are seeing in this data, and hearing directly from businesses and workers across the country, is how the crypto industry in America has become an economic driver,” said Stu Alderoty, President of the National Cryptocurrency Association. “Crypto is having a real, positive impact on American jobs, wages, and economic growth.”

“This analysis shows that the impact of crypto is no longer confined to a single sector; crypto is emerging as a defining pillar of the U.S. economy,” said Oliver Browne, PPG’s Chief Economist, who led the study. “Each direct crypto job generates around six additional roles across the broader economy, underscoring the industry’s significant multiplier effect. With more than 34,000 jobs already directly supported, crypto is steadily establishing itself as a measurable contributor to the U.S. economy, with strong potential for further growth as adoption increases.”
