Playboy Mansion owner cashes out of Miami Beach for $22M

Playboy Mansion owner Daren Metropoulos sold his Miami Beach home for $22 million.

The son of Greek-American billionaire C. Dean Metropoulos sold the 5,870-square-foot home at 7815 Atlantic Way in the gated Altos Del Mar community to an undisclosed buyer. The deal penciled out to $3,750 per square foot. Dina Goldentayer of Douglas Elliman represented the seller, while Lina Agosto of The Corcoran Group brought the buyer. The deal has yet to appear in public records.

The property was listed for $25 million in April, and it went under contract last month. The home has five bedrooms, six bathrooms and one half-bath. It includes an elevator, a pool and 50 feet of water frontage. Metropoulos dropped $18 million on the oceanfront home in 2021.

Metropoulos owns Los Angeles’ Playboy Mansion, which he bought in 2016 for $100 million, half the $200 million asking price. The mansion’s previous owner, Hugh Hefner, lived on the Holmby Hills estate until his death in 2017. Metropoulos also owns a historic oceanfront Palm Beach estate, which he acquired for $148 million in 2024.

His latest sale adds to a string of multimillion-dollar deals in Altos Del Mar, the only gated community in Miami Beach where single-family homes are built directly on the sand facing the Atlantic Ocean. Last year, Sedano’s Supermarkets CEO Agustin Herrán sold his home at 7725 Atlantic Way for $35.6 million, which was a record for the neighborhood at the time. Also last year, Metropoulos’ father, who is known for saving Twinkies through the revival of Hostess Brands, sold a property for $23.5 million.

But while Altos Del Mar fetches high prices and attracts high-profile buyers, it’s still a step below some of Miami Beach’s most exclusive enclaves.

The average cost of luxury homes in the neighborhood ranges from $18.9 million to $23.5 million, according to The Jills Zeder Group, while real estate prices in Star Island range from $27.9 million to $40 million. Star Island holds the record for the priciest home deal, set last year by billionaire developer Vlad Doronin and the sale of his waterfront estate for $120 million.
