The Real Brokerage Inc. has received final court approval in British Columbia for its proposed acquisition of REMAX Holdings, moving the cross-border brokerage merger a step closer to closing, according to an announcement on Friday.
The companies said they anticipate the merger to close on Monday, Aug. 24, but that it is still subject to the satisfaction or waiver of remaining closing conditions.
The arrangement is one component of the broader transaction outlined in the arrangement agreement and plan of merger first announced in late April and amended in June between Real and REMAX Holdings.
Shareholders of both companies approved the combination at separate special meetings on Aug. 14, 2026.
The transaction still requires the completion of customary closing conditions. However, the deal has already been green lighted by the Department of Justice (DOJ). In mid-July, the DOJ granted the companies an early termination of their Hart-Scott-Rodino (HSR) Antitrust Improvements Act waiting period for the proposed merger.
The HSR Act is a federal law that was originally designed to strengthen antitrust enforcement, in part by giving the government advance notice of large mergers and acquisitions so they can be reviewed for competitive harm before they are completed. The act requires parties to notify both theDOJ and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) about proposed mergers.
As of Friday, the companies have not yet provided additional details on integration plans, potential brand changes or any anticipated operational overlaps in the announcement.
On Thursday, shareholders at REMAX elected how they would be paid in Real’s pending acquisition of the franchisor, with cash elections exceeding the deal’s cash cap and triggering proration, according to an announcement on Thursday.
Earlier this week, Real confirmed that following the close of the acquisition, REMAX’s current CEO Erik Carlson plans to step down once the acquisition closes and join the Real REMAX Board. In addition to this, the Tamir Poleg-helmed firm also confirmed that upon the close the transaction Jenna Rozenblat will become president of the newly formed Real REMAX Group.
Rozenblat is Real’s current chief operating officer and she is also serving as the chief integration officer for the transaction.
