Rug designer Ben Soleimani picked up a mansion in Wellington’s Palm Beach Polo and Country Club for $6 million, as South Florida equestrian real estate drives a portion of the luxury market..
Soleimani purchased the home at 12446 Cypress Island Way through a California registered entity, records show. The sellers were Jan and Warren Adelson, owners of Adelson Galleries in New York and Palm Beach.
The Adelsons paid $5.9 million for the 0.64-acre property in 2021, according to records. The home, built in 2012, spans 5,900 square feet, putting the latest deal at $1,020 per square foot.
The house has four bedrooms, six bathrooms and a half-bath, along with a view of the neighborhood lake. It’s located in the gated Palm Beach Polo community, known for its upscale homes near Wellington’s equestrian center.
Carol Sollak of Engel & Völkers represented the seller, and Michelle Hall of Sotheby’s International Realty brought the buyer. It was listed for $6.5 million.
Soleimani founded his self-named designer rug brand in 2019, parting with former partner Restoration Hardware.
The home is in the Cypress Island neighborhood of the Palm Beach Polo and Country Club, an upscale equestrian community with about a dozen distinct neighborhoods. Boston Bruins owner Charlie Jacobs paid $10 million for a house in the neighborhood last year, buying from cable magnate John Malone.
Developer Joe Farrell is raising 27 homes in the neighborhood in a project named Farrell Estates. The homes are planned to be priced between $5 million and $10 million. Farrell landed a $49 million loan on the project earlier this year.
Nearby, Wellington Lifestyle Partners is developing 253 residences within a 400-acre club community known as The Wellington. The development is next door to Wellington International equestrian facility and includes a new 18-hole golf course on land formerly belonging to the Palm Beach Polo and Country Club.
Billionaire Steve Ross is also breaking into Wellington with a 71-acre mixed-use development known as Village Landing. The project is planned for 220,000 square feet of retail, 100,000 square feet of restaurants, a 180-key hotel and 90,000 square feet of offices, along with a private school, on the former K-Park site.
