Alex and Yanina Sapir sold their waterfront Miami Beach mansion for $33 million, four years after Yanina filed for divorce, and just a month before their scheduled trial.
They sold the 8,000-square-foot home at 126 West San Marino Drive on Tuesday, according to the Multiple Listing Service. The property, with five bedroom suites, a home theater and wine room, was on the market with Douglas Elliman’s Bill Hernandez and Bryan Sereny asking $36 million. Hernandez did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The house has been a sticking point in the former couple’s divorce. It’s been on the market with various listing agents, including Luxe Living Realty’s Dora Puig and Miltiadis Kastanis, a top Compass agent. Kastanis represented the buyer in the purchase that closed this week. He declined to comment.
The Sapirs paid $17.3 million for the Venetian Islands estate in 2018 via a trust linked to Yanina, property records show. It sits on a 0.4-acre lot with 90 feet of water frontage and a multivessel dock.
Yanina filed an emergency motion earlier this month to have the judge enforce an agreed order that resolves temporary support and legal fees regarding the sale of the house, with Alex on the hook to pay Yanina expenses associated with her move. Those expenses include first and last month’s rent, a security deposit and moving costs, per a deal they reached two years ago. Payment was due within 24 hours of the contract being signed, but Yanina’s attorneys wrote that Alex failed to pay the $122,500.
Alex’s attorneys are also seeking payment, court records show. His lawyer, Jason Marks of Kluger Kaplan, filed a charging lien for attorneys’ fees and costs totaling $270,835. Alex retained the firm in 2022. A non-jury trial is set to begin Oct. 19, although the former couple could settle before then.
Alex said in a statement that his lawyer is being paid in full and he “is happy to close this chapter and wishes his ex-wife all the best.”
Alex’s attorney, Jason Marks of Kluger Kaplan, and Natalie Lemos of South Miami-based Leinoff & Lemos, one of Yanina’s lawyers, did not respond to requests for comment.
Last year, Alex and Yanina sold the waterfront home next door to theirs to Shark Tank investor Rohan Oza for $9.8 million.
Alex is the son of the late Tamir Sapir, founder of the New York-based Sapir Organization. Alex, who heads Sapir Org. and the Sapir Corp., developed Arte Surfside, a boutique luxury condo building north of Miami Beach. Last year, he and his partners re-listed a 1.5-acre development site in Miami’s Edgewater neighborhood, which is zoned for 741 residential units and nearly 1.5 million square feet of development.
Alex is also teaming up with the Trump Organization and their Georgian partners Archi Group and INVIA to build a 62-story condo tower in Tbilisi, Georgia, which would be the tallest in the country. The firms revealed plans for the project earlier this month.
